Livestock & Agriculture

Properly managed agriculture and livestock can return land to productivity, increase biodiversity, retain carbon in the soil, support conservation, and feed growing populations in the fragile environment of northern Kenya. The mismanagement of stock and land is one of the contributing factors to degradation of landscapes.

Mugie works alongside communities providing keystone economic services for the finishing and sale of cattle on a resource-sharing basis.

Wanting to improve the quality of the cattle available, Mugie has a breeding program with an aim to lead by example, and show the importance (and the value addition) of quality versus quantity.

Read about our Mugie Trading Stock program here.

We strive to educate pastoralist communities about new technologies and research, enabling better livestock husbandry and rangeland management, and increasing the resilience of communities and their herds. This is all done with the goal of sustainable and eco-conscious  development to preserve our planet.
